With little or no progress to report in its talks with the players' union, the National Football League has canceled a Super Bowl media event that was to include Mark Murphy, president and CEO of the Green Bay Packers.Murphy told the Journal Sentinel on Tuesday that he had been asked to meet with the media to discuss the state of labor negotiations with the players' association over a collective bargaining agreement. Murphy, named last year by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell to the NFL's Management Council Executive Committee, has been viewed as bringing a unique perspective to the negotiations because of his background as a former NFL player and a former union vice president. But on Wednesday, the NFL and the Packers said the media availability was off, although Goodell is still expected to meet with the media two days before the Super Bowl.
