It didnt take long for Bryan Bulaga to feel the sting of getting the hook for a mistake. The standard procedure in practice under Mike McCarthy in his four-plus seasons as coach is to replace an offensive lineman if he commits a false-start penalty. And in the first set of team drills at Bulagas first practice of rookie-orientation camp Friday, the Packers first-round draft pick committed two false-start penalties within a handful of plays and was replaced immediately after both. They were the only false starts of the practice.I deserved it, Bulaga said Saturday of getting pulled for both transgressions. That snot acceptable at this level. Youre a little anxious, the snap counts different than what you did (in college), and you want to go. Obviously Im disappointed in myself, but it happens in the game. If I get pulled out I deserve to get pulled out. Just jump right back in there and go again.-- A year ago, Ronald Talley was going through his first NFL minicamp as an undrafted rookie with the Green Bay Packers.Though he didnt make the team, the defensive end from Delaware spent the entire season gaining valuable experience on the practice squad. He only wishes he could be using that experience in this weekends rookie orientation camp. But knee surgery in February has Talley limited to working out on the side. Hes expected to return at some point during the Organized Team Activities. It was just something that was nagging me a little bit, something that they had to clean up, Talley said.It might be tough for Talley to make the team this year, considering the Packers drafted two players second-round pick Mike Neal and seventh-rounder C.J. Wilson at his position, but he said hes not worried about that because he feels ready to contribute thanks to all that hes learned in the last year.I know exactly what theyre looking for and especially what theyre expecting out of me, Talley said. Im 10 times more comfortable, and its like Im in a different world right now.-- Speaking of injuries, rookie running back James Starks, who missed all of his senior season last year at the University of Buffalo because of a shoulder injury, said he felt fine today after going through his first full practices in more than a year. The sixth-round pick said he wasnt even sore.Thats the first time in nearly two years Ive had any contact at all, Starks said. It feels good.-- The Packers had so many tryout guys in this camp that those 29 players here for auditions had to change in the visitors locker room.-- The rookie camp wraps up with another practice on Sunday. Only coach Mike McCarthy is available to the media. That will be at 12:15 p.m.
